Contract Chicken Growers Now Eligible for USDA Pandemic Aid

WASHINGTON, D.C. – USDA this afternoon announced a final rule providing eligibility for contact chicken producers to receive assistance under the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) 2 for revenue losses related to COVID-19.

The rule makes contract producers of broilers, pullets, layers, and poultry eggs – among other contract commodities – eligible for assistance. According to USDA’s press release, this update includes eligible breeding stock and eggs of all eligible poultry types produced under contract.

“NCC and America’s chicken producers are extremely grateful for the leadership of Senators Coons, Wicker and Boozman, and Reps. Aderholt, Womack, Costa, Rose and Kelly on this issue, along with those members of the Senate and House Chicken Caucuses who supported this effort,” said NCC President Mike Brown. “Since the beginning of the pandemic, NCC has advocated for federal financial assistance for the farmers who have been working to provide chicken on our tables whose businesses were affected by COVID-19.”
