National Chicken Council today congratulated the company formerly known as Burger King on its new identity as Chicken King. “When you’ve got a winner, go with it,” said a spokesman for NCC, referring to the new Chicken Whopper, whose centerpiece is a 4.7-ounce piece of chicken breast meat. “This is a whopper of a day for the chicken business.”
The nationwide rollout of the Chicken Whopper and Chicken Whopper Jr. was noted in three full-page advertisements in the USA TODAY newspaper today.
The National Chicken Council represents integrated chicken producer-processors, the companies that produce, process and market chickens. Member companies of NCC account for approximately 95 percent of the chicken sold in the United States.
