NATIONAL CHICKEN COUNCIL MOURNS PASSING OF JOE HATFIELD OF FIELDALE FARMS

A statement by George Watts, President of the National Chicken Council, on the death of Joe Hatfield, co-founder, president and CEO of Fieldale Farms of Baldwin, Georgia.

“Joe Hatfield was one of the true giants of the broiler industry and a Life Member of the National Chicken Council Board of Directors. He was a former chairman of the board.

“Joe was a public-spirited man who served his country in the U.S. Navy in World War II and was active in community affairs all his life.

“He was one of the leaders in the development of the modern industry in coordination of all aspects of production and processing, of product innovation, and the use of a brand name as a sign of quality assurance.

“Most of all, Joe Hatfield was a man of integrity and quiet common sense who helped his company and the industry meet many challenges over the years. He was always willing to contribute his personal time and the resources of his company for the benefit of the poultry industry. We mourn his passing.”
