KFC is National Chicken Council’s First Partner in New Showcase of Chicken

The National Chicken Council (NCC) announced today that KFC is the first company to partner with NCC in the Council’s newly-launched Showcase of Chicken. The showcase, on a quarterly basis, will recognize outstanding foodservice companies by featuring these partners on eatchicken.com, the consumer-oriented Web site maintained by NCC. Highlighted on a special section on eatchicken.com are KFC recipes, KFC’s newest menu items, and insights into how company chefs at KFC dream up new ideas to meet consumer demand.

Visitors to the site can email questions directly to KFC corporate chef Bob Das. If a visitor’s question is selected to be posted online, they will receive a coupon for a KFC family dinner. eatchicken.com will profile KFC throughout July, August, and September – National Chicken Month.

“The National Chicken Council is pleased to have KFC as its first partner in the Showcase. KFC has developed great and very innovative products for its menu,” George Watts, National Chicken Council president, said. “It is most appropriate that KFC, with its long and close history with the chicken industry, is helping to launch the new Showcase,” he added.

In April 2007, KFC transitioned to a menu that included zero grams of trans fat per serving for all fried chicken products. Also creating a strong buzz in several test markets around the U.S. is
Kentucky Grilled Chicken, which is expected to be introduced nationwide in early 2009.

“KFC is committed to serving foods that meet the changing needs of our customers, while delivering the finger-lickin’ good taste that is the foundation of the brand,” said Doug Hasselo, Chief Food Innovation Officer for KFC. “We put our heart and soul into developing products like sauceless Hot Wings or a grilled chicken that is worthy of the name ‘KFC.’ We do that because our customers tell us that’s what they want from us.”

Consumers are encouraged to visit and visit often the Showcase of Chicken section on eatchicken.com. In addition to the new Showcase, eatchicken.com features hundreds of recipes, nutritional information, dietary news, and advice on handling chicken products.
