Gary Jay Kushner

Interim President

Gary Jay Kushner was named interim president of the National Chicken Council in June 2024. Prior to his appointment, Kushner had recently retired from the partnership at the law firm Hogan Lovells US LLP in Washington DC, where he served as outside general counsel to NCC for more than 40 years. Kushner co-founded and led the firm’s food and beverage practice and has advised many of the world’s leading food and agriculture companies as well as their trade associations.

Before private practice, Gary served as vice president and general counsel for the American Meat Institute where he directed the organization’s legal, regulatory, and legislative activities. He began his food industry career as staff counsel for Scientific Affairs for the Grocery Manufacturers of America. Kushner graduated from the University of Michigan and received his law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center. He began his legal career as law clerk to the Honorable John R. Hess in the Superior Court for the District of Columbia.
